Brian T. Szura, M.D.

Knee | Shoulder | Ankle | Sports Medicine | General Orthopaedics

Dr. Brian Szura was the third physician to join Cary Orthopaedics in 1992 and now is the Practice’s Senior Partner. Dr. Szura was one of the first Sports Fellowship trained orthopaedists in the area. This subspecialty training was instrumental in establishing and expanding the many relationships the practice has enjoyed with professional franchises, local high schools, colleges and universities through the Triangle.

Although Dr. Szura’s practice is primarily focused on minimally invasive arthroscopic management and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder and knee, he can provide care for all general orthopaedic and sports-related conditions.

Dr. Szura attended Haverford College in Pennsylvania, Case Western Reserve Medical School in Ohio and residency at Union Memorial Hospital and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Maryland. He completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Hughston Sports Medicine Clinic in Georgia.

He is presently the team physician for Cardinal Gibbons High School and Saint Augustine’s University. Over the years, Dr. Szura has also served as team physician for semi-pro and professional teams in the Triangle, including the Raleigh Capital Express, Raleigh Flyers and the Carolina Courage Women’s professional team.

As an established surgeon, Dr. Szura remains committed to providing exceptional orthopaedic care and seeing each patient personally at every visit. At each appointment, he will review, in terms that are easily understood, your diagnosis, clinical findings and treatment options. He will take as much time as you need to ensure you have a complete understanding of your diagnosis and can make an informed decision on how to proceed with treatment.
